March March 17-18 weekend include the Upper Room St. Patrick’s Day Stride with Pride, the Sprowls Insurance Group 5Y Diaper Derby and the Boston Beanery St. Patrick’s Day 5K Run/Walk. The weekend will kick off on Saturday, March 17, when FCCAA will host the Upper Room St. Patrick’s Day Stride with Pride, a non-competitive mall walk. Registration will take place from 7 to 7:45 p.m. and the event will begin at 8 a.m. at Uniontown Mall’s JCPenney Court. The first 50 pre-registered individuals will receive a commemorative short-sleeved T-shirt. Participants will have one hour to walk as many laps as possible around the inside perimeter of the Uniontown Mall. For each lap walked, the participants will receive tickets that can be used for prize drawings. Because the event is non-competitive, walkers of every fitness level are encouraged to participate. The registration fee is $15. All proceeds from this event will benefit senior citizens served by FCCAA.Following the Stride with Pride, the Fayette County Nurse-Family Partnership will hold the annual Sprowls Insurance Group 5Y Diaper Derby.The event starts with registration at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 17, followed by the race at 11 a.m. at Dunham’s Center Court. The first 50 pre-registered babies and toddlers will receive a commemorative T-shirt. The Diaper Derby is a full-filled competition for crawling babies and toddlers up to 36 months old. Crawlers will crawl 5 yards from one cheering “coach” to another cheering “coach.” Walkers will walk 5 yards from one cheering “coach” to another “cheering” coach. The registration fee is $12. All participants will be eligible to win a United States Savings Bond. All proceeds from the Diaper Derby will benefit the families served by the Fayette County Nurse-Family Partnership. CCAA is honored once again to host the annual Boston Beanery St. Patrick’s Day 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, March 18.Registration will be held from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. (JC Penney Court) followed by the event at 9 a.m. The first 250 participants to register will receive an official 2012 Boston Beanery St. Patrick’s Day 5K Run/Walk commemorative long-sleeved T-shirt. The registration fee is $20 before March 5 and $25 beginning March 6. All proceeds will benefit Fayette County families in crisis served by FCCAA. July: FCCAA and PIRHL recently finished construction on a three-story, 36-unit senior apartment building in Uniontown, PA. The building includes 12 one-bedroom, one-bath, 675-square-foot apartments, and 24 two-bedroom, one-bath, 856-square-foot apartments for older adults age 55 and older. Each unit includes Energy Star-rated appliances and windows, range, refrigerator, disposal, under-the-counter dishwashers, central air conditioning, washer-dryer hookups, large walk-in storage closet, pantry and central heating, ventilation and air conditioning. On July 8, 2011, FCCAA hosted a ribbon cutting for the new apartment building.

November: SCOTT C’S AUTO GROUP HELPING TO DRIVE OUT HUNGER Scott C’s Auto Group will be helping feed local families in need this holiday season. MONONGALIA, FAYETTE, AND WESTMORELAND COUNTIES: Scott C’s Auto Group is joining forces with local food pantries in Monongalia County, West Virginia, and Fayette and Westmoreland Counties in Pennsylvania this November. An effort is being made to help local families have food this holiday season. All three locations will be giving their respective food pantries $100 for every vehicle that is sold in the month of November, along with being a drop off location for anyone that may want to donate non-perishable food items. According to the Monongalia County Family Resource Network $100 will feed a local family for 2 weeks. Items that the food pantries are in need of are healthy non-perishable items such as peanut butter, cereal, pasta, along with cleaning supplies, and personal care items. Monetary donations can also be made.Scott C’s Auto Group has three retail locations in Morgantown, West Virginia; Connellsville, Pennsylvania; and Delmont, Pennsylvania; along with a full service center in Connellsville. Scott C’s has been in business for over 25 years, and prides itself in giving back to the local community.
Southwest Regional Police is proud to partner with Fayette County Community Action in a holiday food drive for the needy. During the month of November, non-perishable food items will be collected at the Southwest Regional Police Department located at 10 Main Street in Belle Vernon between the hours of 8AM and 4PM. Donated items will benefit your local food bank. Most needed items include cereal, canned salmon and tuna, canned juice, canned beans, canned vegetables, canned stews and chilli, spaghetti sauce, macaroni and cheese, canned fruit, canned pastas, pudding and jello. Please NO GLASS ITEMS.

December: FCCAA, in cooperation with the County of Fayette, will host the Third Annual Magic & Mistletoe on December 3rd , 2011 from 7-10pm. The celebration will once again be held in the historic Fayette County Courthouse and is sure to be the most magical evening of the holiday season. This year’s Magic & Mistletoe will feature horse-drawn carriage rides, musical entertainment, fine cuisine, a silent auction, and the spirit of the holiday season.
