St. Patrick's Day Annual 5K Weekend

Saturday March 13, 2010 was our Upper Room Senior Stride with Pride and Paul Sprowls Diaper Derby.  The Stride began at 8:00 AM, it is a walk around the inside of the mall, each lap you recieve 5 tickets for the Chinese Auction so the more laps you complete, the more tickets you recieve.  Some of the participants finished 6,8, and 10 laps.  There was 84 people in attendance.  We had 61 donated prizes for the auction (thanks to our dynamic duo Marge Gregg and Louise Franks)and every one had a good time. Money raised benefits the Meals on Wheels program.
The Diaper Derby began at 11AM with 23 pre registered.   It was a fun filled competition for crawling babies and toddlers up to 36 months old.  Crawlers participating in the derby will crawl and walkers will toddle on padded gym mats from one cheering "coach" to another competing for ribbons.  There was also prize drawings and our volunteers did a wonderful job of organzing and running both events.

Sunday March 14, 2010  was our annual Boston Beanery St. Patrick’s 5K Run/Walk.  FCCAA volunteers did a great job of setting up and keeping things running smoothly.  Uniontown's Dexter Smart held off the charge of fellow Uniontown resident Ben Shinskky to win the 18th annual Boston Beanery St. Patrick's Day 5K Run/Walk.  Smart crossed the finish line in 17:56.98, just ahead of Shinsky's finish in 17:59.42.  Perryopolis' Sawyer Palonder was third in 18:16.46.
